Are me and this kid 5th cousins?!

This kid, Brian Pyrkos has been friends with me and my brother, Adam for many years now. Once we discovered that we had a 'Pyrkosz' in our family line, it instantly became a phenomenom that would recieve erratic amounts of fascination from everybody we know.

What we know so far:

-Pyrkos' Great Grandfather (Leonard Pyrkosz) was born in Pniowski and lived in Czekaj in Poland.
-My Great Grandfather (Adam Joseph Czajka) was born and lived in Pniow, Poland.
-My Great Grandfather (Adam Joseph Czajka) had a Grandmother who's maiden name was Marianna Pyrkosz.
-My Great, Great, Great Grandmother (Marianna Pyrkosz) is highly likely to have lived in Pniow herself. (Or around there)
-Pniow (the village my ancestors are from) and Pniowski-Czekaj (where Pyrkos' ancestors are from) were very close to each other or were even the same place.

What else we know:
-In 1990, 745 people had the last name, "Pyrkosz" in Poland in 1990. But more importantly, in the province of Opolskie (Where the villages fall in) there were only 7 Pyrkosz'. To me, this tells me that probably all the Pyrkosz' in that area are related, however that could be untrue. But it just would make sense, you know? What this means about the likelyhood of me and Pyrkos being related means, I'm not 100% sure, but I feel it strengthens it.
What our next steps are:
-send letters to the parishes in that region of Poland asking for records of Pyrkosz' so that we might find a link!
-another course of action would be to conduct a DNA test, but I think the price and the chance of finding out we are not related will inhibit this.
